Materials Used for Pipe Insulation

Isolation is the process that contributes to saving the energy consumed for heating or cooling the building. The insulation to be made in the installation lines and valves passing through the unheated areas of the buildings and the materials used for pipe insulation seriously affect the energy saving. Therefore, pipes, tanks, tanks, air conditioning ducts, valves and armatures that make up the installation should be insulated according to whether the fluid passing through them is hot or cold.

Heat Loss Prevented

When installation insulation is mentioned, heat, sound and fire insulation comes to mind in devices such as pipes, valves, radiators, boiler rooms, ventilation ducts, cooling units, hydrophore, combi-boiler through which the fluid passes. Materials used for pipe insulation must be carefully selected to prevent heat loss of the transported fluid without being affected by external environment, conditions and weather conditions and to maintain the system in a healthy manner. Sound insulation is caused by the sound, vibration and thermal expansion of the devices while they are working. The sound created by the impact of the air passing through the channel on the surface of the channel and the velocity of the fluid is called noise. In order to reduce this type of sound and vibration, sound insulation is applied to the installation.

Do the Materials Used for Pipe Insulation Create Risk?

An important issue for the installation is fire insulation. The purpose of this isolation is to stop the spread of flame and smoke in the event of a fire. Materials that pose risks in living spaces; plumbing pipes, electrical cables, shafts and ventilation ducts. Fire insulation should be done to prevent the progression of the fire here.

What are the materials used for pipe insulation? Among the materials used in the installation, there are materials such as rock wool, polyethylene foam, glass wool, rubber foam and valve jacket that resist heat transfer. The main features sought in these materials are being economical, fire resistant, easy to apply, thermal conductivity coefficient, resistance temperature and vapor diffusion resistance coefficient.

Materials Used for Pipe Insulation Should Have Low Thermal Conductivity Value

The insulation materials used in both heating and cooling must have a low thermal conductivity value and a high fire resistance. It should be applied in a way that it will not be exposed to water vapor, and these conditions should be observed for efficiency, safety and installation life.

Materials used in pipe insulation are glass wool, rock wool, glass foam, rubber foam and polyethylene in the most correct form in hot lines. The amount of energy that needs to be cooled in cold lines is more than the amount of energy that needs to be heated. For this reason, attention should be paid to this in the isolation application and should be treated sensitively.

The Pipes Should Have a Space of 50 Mm Between

The insulation of the return pipes should be laid with a gap of 50 mm between them, and the installation should be covered externally with vapor barrier material to prevent condensation. What are the materials used in pipe insulation? In case of condensation inside the insulation material or on the pipe surface, the thermal resistance of the insulation material decreases and corrosion occurs on the metal pipes. Valve armature insulation is usually left uninsulated. Instead, removable insulation jackets are used.
